Melo Moves

Known to most on the music scene as Melo, Melden Byrd is a singer, songwriter, poet and occasional host.

Melo, grew up in South Florida during an era of musical experimentation which introduced him to a world of new musical genres and instrumentation. Being a lover of music Melo was led to playing the drums and piano for a short time while in elementary school and later the trumpet in middle school.

Melo, while crossing the school yard was “discovered” at Miami Carol City Senior High School. That moment led him to singing in an acapella group “Enter-LUDE” and later the school’s vocal ensemble.

Following in the footsteps of established groups like New Edition, Boyz II Men and Jodeci. Melo began writing and recording R&B ballads while a member is Enter-LUDE. He and his groupmates  would also go on perform at local talent shows, showcases and made an appearance on tv and radio to display their versatile voices and “tight harmonies”. Enter-LUDE later disbanded.

As years passed, poetry became his preferred form of expression as he was now writing more poetry than songs.

Through various venues of karaoke, Melo was introduced to a whole sub-culture of South Florida nightlife and made a name for himself as a solo artist and make new friends including all of the members of Show Stoppers Entertain-Mint. Now, through Show Stoppers and other side endeavors, Melo is now poised to take his musical talent to another level. His primary musical genres includes R&B, Soul, Funk and Pop. However, he is also known for his versatility and can also be heard singing Oldies, Rock, Dance and even Classical on occasion.
